Pre & Postnatal Qualification for Pilates Instructors

Level 3 pre & postnatal qualification built specifically for Pilates instructors who want to confidently support women through pregnancy and postnatal recovery.

Designed for Pilates instructors who want proper insurance cover and to feel calm and confident when pregnant or postnatal clients show up in the room.

“I already had my Pilates qualification, but pregnancy and postnatal clients made me hesitate. I wasn’t sure what I was insured for and I constantly second-guessed my modifications. This qualification filled in the gaps properly and gave me confidence I could actually trust.”
- Sarah J - Pilates instructor

You know you could be helping these women

You're a qualified Pilates instructor. You love what you do.

But when a pregnant woman asks to join your class, or a new mum books in... something shifts.

You feel that flutter of uncertainty:

  • Am I insured for this?
  • What if she asks about diastasis or pelvic floor issues?
  • Should I modify this exercise, or is it fine?

Sometimes you don’t even know they’re pregnant until you’re halfway through the class.
Studios don’t always share PAR-Qs.
Clients don’t always disclose.

And suddenly you’re modifying on the fly, hoping your instincts are enough – while feeling that low-level panic of “what if I miss something?”

You care deeply about doing right by your clients. But your Pilates qualification didn't prepare you for the realities of teaching pregnant and postnatal bodies.

You're not alone.

And you're right to want more.

The gap between qualified & confident

Most pre and postnatal fitness courses lump everyone together — yoga teachers, PTs, fitness instructors, and Pilates teachers all learning the same generic content.

But Pilates is different.

Precision matters.
Breath matters.
The subtlety of deep core and pelvic floor connection matters.

You need training that speaks your language and understands your teaching environment — not another tick-box course that leaves you Googling modifications at midnight.

So you can go from reacting in the moment to making calm, informed decisions – even when you’re put on the spot.

This is the qualification that gets you there.

“I’d been teaching for years, but I always felt a knot in my stomach when a pregnant woman joined my class. This course made everything click – suddenly I understood what was happening in their body and how to adapt without panicking.”
- Emma R – Pilates Instructor

What you'll be able to do

This Level 3 qualification gives you exactly what you need to work safely and confidently with pre and postnatal clients — without overwhelm or waffle.

By the end of the course, you'll:

Feel confident welcoming pregnant and postnatal women into your classes
Understand what is happening in their bodies and why it matters for movement
Make clear, calm decisions about exercise choice and modification
Teach with confidence, knowing you are qualified, insured, and able to explain why you’re modifying – without making clients feel fragile or “wrong”
Know how to adapt Pilates safely while maintaining intention and flow
This is about moving from qualified on paper to confident in the room.

“I stopped second-guessing every exercise. I can now explain my modifications clearly and teach with confidence instead of hoping I’m doing the right thing.”
- Lucy M – Pilates Instructor

What you’ll learn

Prenatal Programming

Learn how the body changes through each trimester - from cardiovascular and postural shifts to hormonal and emotional factors - and how to adapt Pilates movements safely and effectively.

You’ll explore the benefits of prenatal exercise, contraindications, breathwork and core stability, and how to plan sessions that support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Postnatal Recovery

Understand what happens after birth - from pelvic floor and abdominal wall recovery to posture, strength and emotional health.

You’ll learn how to rebuild stability, restore breath connection, and progress clients confidently through each stage of postnatal recovery.

You’ll also learn how to identify when a client is within your scope – and when they need more specialist support – so you’re never left guessing or over-stepping.

Real-World Application

This isn’t just theory.

You’ll complete case studies, plan real sessions, and practise adapting your teaching for real scenarios.

You'll walk away ready to teach, not just certified.

How you’ll learn

This Level 3 pre & postnatal qualification combines flexible learning with real-world support – so you’re never left figuring things out alone.

You’ll learn through:
  • Online modules you can complete at your own pace: Clear, structured lessons designed specifically for Pilates instructors – no generic fitness fluff, no guesswork.
  • Unlimited 1:1 Zoom support with your tutor: So you can ask questions, sense-check decisions, and talk things through when something doesn’t quite land – instead of second-guessing yourself in isolation.
  • Face-to-face practical workshops: Hands-on sessions where you practise teaching, adapting, and modifying in real time – and leave knowing how it should feel, not just how it should look on paper.
  • A comprehensive printed working manual: A proper reference you’ll return to again and again – for lesson planning, reassurance, and clarity long after the course is finished.
  • A pocket book of prenatal and postnatal exercise adaptations: Designed to live in your bag or studio – so when your mind goes blank mid-planning, you’ve got clear, Pilates-specific guidance to hand.

You’ll also complete two practical assessments
  • A knowledge worksheet to consolidate understanding
  • A case study where you plan and deliver programmes for prenatal and postnatal clients

By the end, you’ll have the knowledge, confidence, and certification to safely support pregnant and postnatal women in your teaching.

Most importantly, you’ll feel calmer, clearer, and more confident in the moments that used to make you panic.
